I understand that you are so bored reading the articles about nutrition and lifestyle, what to eat what not to eat.  But now in this article I am not talking anything about green tea, vegetable or fruits all we are gonna look upon is CHICKEN..!! The word touches the taste buds and makes them watering right???

Me thinking about what to eat..!!!

My conscious mind reminds me of all the articles I read about the nutrition and nutritional food which is very important.

Healthy food may be good for the conscience but chickkeeennn..!!!! it taste a hell lot of better.

And then I feel that my soul had enough vegetables and fruits now it wants chicken.

I just ordered a chicken and an egg off the internet to see which one comes first..!!!!

It had long been suspected that the egg came first.

Okay but the FACT Is British researchers say the chicken must have come first as the formation of eggs is only possible thanks to a protein found in the chicken’s ovaries.

Apart from that something that is really interesting about chickens
1.Chickens are just like human mothers who talk to their babies in the      womb—a mother hen begins to teach calls to her chicks before they even hatch.

  1. Chickens are real sleeping beauties—they experience rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. Wondering what is REM ask your friend who knows biology or just google it.
  2. Chickens have full-color vision—no color-blindness here!
  3. The scientific name for a chicken is GALLUS GALLUS DOMESTICUS
  4. Chickens are omnivores
  5. Domestic chickens generally do not fly
  6. The color of hen’s egg is determined by the breed of chicken and the color of their ears

Okay coming to the healthy benefits of chicken which is grilled, roasted cooked and fried.

People who love food more than anything these facts are for you

The very first fact is chicken tastes soo yummm!!! Alright you know that already

Did you know!!!  Chicken is one of the best non-vegetarian sources of protein and it is a lean meat so you say no to fat and yes to muscle

Chicken has a huge amount of protein, phosphorus and calcium to make your bones strong, tryptophan and vitamin B5 both of them have calming effect on your body so if your day is so stressful grab a plate of chicken because this is an excellent for a stressful day. For me anything which induces happiness will relieve stress. Hope that a yummy delicious chicken recipe is a whole lot of happiness.

And a few medicinal facts: #01 the hot steam of chicken soup helps clear nasal and throat congestion, thus Chicken soup has long been used as a home remedy for relieving cold, flu and other common respiratory infections.

So for me chicken is so weird..!! ohhhh I just said chicken is Wonderful, Exciting, interesting, Real, and sooo…Different.

Thanks a lot for your time I know by now your taste buds might have triggered a lot.

An increasing number of working a professionals who are caught up busy schedules and chores don’t have much time left at the end of the day for cooking.Besides don’t we all enjoy ordering food online ,from the comfort of our homes with just a tap on the phone screen.

What do customers want?
Quick and Easy Access to Food that “Tastes” Good and “Looks” Good and  “Healthy?”
Do they think about freshness? Yes
Do they worry about what happens if they eat defrosted food? Don’t Know Don’t Care, after all “Ignorance is a Bliss”
Do you think its worth putting your health at stake in exchange for time? No No No

Showing you the Dark Side of most express food delivery options, the true facet of food tech.

31d5bc323023d2d1b2457e1ae514da95

Do you really think elaborate meals can be prepared within 15min? when the marination process itself takes 20min.Have you ever wondered how food is delivered to you in name of express delivery.Sure you are served food that tastes good real quick but have you considered the health aspects of it?Preserved food that is either stored in cold freezers or partially cooked food is bad for health.Pre-cooked food is  pre-heated , packaged and served. There are quite a few measures that restaurants and food joints undertake to prevent food from spoiling and reduce food wastage.Buying in bulk is always helpful as it saves cost. To prevent the bulk purchase from spoiling you need to either use cold freezer or add preservatives or precook.Further storing in a dry environment at low  temperatures helps to avoid fungus and moulds. When it comes to pre-cooked food -cooling it and then storing helps to prevent bacterial growth.Simply reheating the frozen food and serving is the trick to delivering it fast.

You will be shocked to know the extent to which business owners go to increase the shelf life of the prepared food.Curry and rice can be stored up to 40 days at low temperatures without any visible deterioration. The problem occurs when the culprit is hidden from the naked eyes.A lot of preservatives and colourants added to maintain the taste and flavour of old food have extended side effects on the human body.Read the previous post on what to eat what not to eat in case you have missed to learn more.

Since the money makers, investors or anyone for that matter isn’t concern about the health impacts of express food , the onus lies  in the hand of the consumers, the beloved customers to take care and think before eating.Think of this hypothetical but possible scenario, you are sitting in a hospital because of food poisoning from a food that was served you in name of quick and fresh and you probably saved 30min of your time. Was it really worth it? How much time did you spend in the hospital? How much money did you spend on medicines ? How much physical and mental discomfort you had to go through? Was it worth saving those 30min? An eyeopener really, when you come across an untoward situation like this ,when either you or your family member falls sick because of bad quality food.

019ac613e1513f8d6c18bb2c699d9d36

Quick and Easy access to food is so clever advertised and disguised as a timesaver that the spine chilling facts never surface up.A popular ingredient-Table salt has moisture absorbents and iodine and is dried at more that 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit. Imagine this being added to your food. The very chemical structure of most of the ingredients changes with time and their natural benefits are non-existent.This is precisely why we at Readybowl take our time with your food, prepare it fresh, never buy in bulk .Yes ! it costs us a little extra but we consider it important to make sure your health is never put to stake.Order from www.readybowl.com to experience the taste and freshness of home styled Indian food.

Take care

chemical-toxins1 95% sick by food

Just one decade back, we use to love mom made home cooked food. Eating outside was very rare and even not needed. With our lives become increasingly fast past us going greedy and exchanging time for ourselves for longer work hours all ready to cook and instant food are our daily food choices.Frozen food, preservatives are stuck in our kitchens as substitutes for real food in name of “quick and easy”. Have you seen people having problems with their gut, skin, hair? All are linked to our stomachs.

Have you ever wondered about frozen food and its popularity in the western culture? Frozen food is how you can eat out of season vegetables ,lose weight but unfortunately the food tends to deteriorate the moment its defrosted. The flipside is when it comes to stabilising the product, unhealthy vegetable oil is used as preservativ.Frozen, prepared foods contain unacceptably high levels of sodium that can increase your risk of developing high blood pressure and heart disease.Salt,Sugar and Vinegar were amongst the first natural and real preservatives used since ancestral times.Jam and pickle were the “real” preserves.

toxic20chemical20cocktail

But with the advent of manufacturing and the need for quick and easy food processed food in bulk quantities to feed the masses a huge number of additives are added to increase the shelf life.Preservatives like nitrates, propionates, benzoates and sulphites are used in cured meat to keep it fresh for longer.Synthetic antioxidants are added to sausages to make them stay fresh.Emulsifiers, stabilisers, gelling agents are used in foods to maintain proper consistency for example in sauces, mayos, dips.

.Flavour enhancers-MSG are used a lot in Chinese food for the taste and for making the food last long. The food additive “MSG” is a slow poison which hides behind dozens of names, such as natural flavoring, yeast extract, autolyzed yeast extract, disodium guanylate, disodium inosinate, caseinate, textured protein, hydrolyzed pea protein. Also trademarked as Ajinomoto( “Aji No Moto” which is Essence of Japan) MSG has effects deadlier than you could imagine. Its an excretory neurotransmitter and causes severe imbalance to the nervous system. It enhances the food taste so that people like us, long for more. With low costs, food chains will get huge profits.Another reason why people use  MSG-it stimulates your pancreas. Pancreas then releases the insulin even when your sugar level is fine. This excess insulin causes a drop in the sugar level of the body and you feel hungry. This leads to overeating along with obesity.Anyway what the food companies care about is you order more not how its causing the nation to move towards obesity.MSG is addictive too. If you eat items containing MSG once, you tend to get into the habit of eating that food item on a regular basis.I hope its clear why the US has such a high amount of obesity. Most of these things originated there.

Artificial preservatives may act as antioxidants, make food more acidic.Remember acidic food will displace the pH levels of your body.most diseases including cancer grows in acidic environment.Sure preservatives mean convenience as  reduce the moisture level of food, slow down the ripening process and prevent the growth of microorganisms, all of which help the food last longer. This means you can make fewer trips to the store and reduced food wastage as the preservatives help minimize the amount of food you buy that goes bad before you can eat it.Certain preservatives, including sulfites and sodium benzoate, may cause adverse reactions in a small percentage of the population.Sodium benzoate, also called benzoic acid, is used in acidic foods to keep microorganisms from growing. In sensitive individuals, it can cause asthma, hives and other allergic reactions.sodium benzoate is usually considered safe for people who aren’t sensitive to it, when combined with ascorbic acid in acidic foods it can produce benzene, which may slightly increase your risk for leukemia and other types of cancer, according to the Center for Science in the Public Interest. Nitrates and nitrites, which are often used to preserve cured meats, such as lunch meat and hot dogs, may also increase your risk for certain types of cancers.

Water is the elixir of life, it helps to flush out toxins from the body and maintain good pH balance. Its  a natural purifier, replenisher, hydrator  and the most effective detox source. Plain water is boring which is why it is getting overshadowed by artificial vitamins and fruit salts when added to water give it a flavour which people enjoy. Add an ‘ooumf factor’ to your water. Most vitamins are water soluble and this is a great way to supplement your diet with the much needed nutrients missing in food.We do not add any preservative, or artificial sugars to the water so it retains the original freshwater which is enriched  with a  natural touch of herbs and fruits added to it.You can see the fruit and herbs for yourself so there is no fooling anyone if colour or any medicines were added to achieve the fruity herb like look.We will be launching 7 kinds of freshwaters from classical to digestive to detox to antioxidant rich.

Happy Mother’s Day everyone, lets take this day to relish and go back in time think about the joys of being a kid, those childhood days when you would return home from school or even better the summer vacation times when you would travel to your grandma’s house. My best childhood memories are those where I took a ride with my mom and dad and my siblings on a train.

ca620afb687270d374dc7453a379f00d 4c7484b9f0fb9094f5db32f29df65370

Do you remember how much fun those train rides used to be, with all the cousins eating out at stations where the train stopped.I enjoyed my childhood in those humbled sleeper coaches which gave a perfect view of the scenic landscape and the fresh air from the mustard fields flooding with yellow flowers.my favourite part used to be when the train would go over the bridge, the rambling of the wheels against the metal bridge and the eco was spectacular not to forget the immense blue river flowing underneath. The entire fam.ly sitting together in the same coach chit-chatting about humdrum events and snacking on masala peanuts or puffed rice our mom would prepare at home. Those days were so good, humble and modest , not so much luxury but so much love and togetherness.Indian Railways is the best mode of transport suggested to anyone who wants to see the real India and the culture and warmth the country stands for.
Indian_Railway.svg article-2333489-1A129DE8000005DC-170_634x421

The best part about taking a rail ride in India is the opportunity of eating at every stop and lucky us every place is famous for something or the other-be it the iconic chole puri or pakodas or Nagpur ke santre or Mathura ke pede.My favourite comfort food from the railway stations would be chatpatay chana masala, aloo tikki chaat, aloo subzi with puri, veg sandwich, kachori and kulhad wali chai. Can’t believe even thinking about it is making me drool. Thanks to education and globalisation we all got drawn away from those simpler times of home food from grandmas kitchen or the daily mom’s food we would eat all the time.

Mango Flowers 013 9ed72beb70a9467b26b930e08c0f23f5

Don’t we crave for that food ? why do you think we miss it so much? Is it just because of the taste ? or is  it the memories it instils in us? or you think its because of the love the food is prepared with.Did you know that food cooked in a bad mood does taste bad and the happiness and love with with food is offered makes it more tasty.Have you ever wondered why the food is so incredibly tasty during festivals-Navratri,Diwali,Puja? You’re thinking right the ambience and love with which the food is prepared gives it that taste.

339234-pot-ts 0959be2a5d9ff7a30f1219ce0da9a796

The best part about being a kid was the feeling of being free like a bird, no stress or worries ever affect a kid.The only work at hand for a kid is play and kids are very good at it and think its very easy also, hence the term ‘child’s play’.Sitting under a tree enjoying the little piece of roti with aloo and pickle used to be such a perfect dining experience, the fresh breeze was the AC, the tree branches and leaves the shade and rustic ambience and the small wooden log a perfect spot for both eating and playing.Plucking fruits from the trees inside someone else’s garden and collecting the marigold blossoms during spring were popular sources of entertainment.Running around in the sun with brothers and sisters was so much fun, we never wore any sunscreen lotions.

images-12 mango-1

Ofcourse our moms would scrub us with the besan upton on Sundays and we would scream and cry when she would scrub it.Summer brought with it the musky sweet fragrance of  Mango flowers and how tasty used to be those unripe Mango Fruits.

If some one were to ask me what I miss everyday I would say that would be my moms home food and my the vacation spot at my grandmas. Its tough to find home styled fresh and natural food outside in a big city of Bangalore which is spurned with multi-nationals and is a haven for food startups. You can have all possible cuisines from over the world but what you miss the most – Indian Food is just not there.Ready bowl started with the vision to recreate the same modest time of mom style home cooked food prepared with ingredients procured from the village fields directly.Freshly ground spices the way your mom always made, your mom never added any color, preservative to the food to make it look attractive neither do we.Its simple naturally appealing to the eye and satisfying to the soul.We are hoping that while you eat our food you do get a chance to relive those long lost memories of simpler but happier times in the comfort of your home.

Happy Mother’s Day again !

Hi all, this is the first post on the blog.As the vision of Readybowl iterates serving fresh natural Indian Food we are going to dive deep into Why we <3 Indian Food? What are the health benefits of Indian food? What so special about the spices we use in preparing our signature dishes? What is the secret ingredient ?(Kungfu Panda Fans-do you know the secret??) , lets get started …

Hand-drawn-Indian-food-elements-vector-04
We can eat any kind of food : Chinese,Italian,Mexican,American,Mediterranean,European,Persian,French you name it but we never feel fulfilled or full. Have you ever thought why?

Have you paid attention to the flavours in international cuisine vs indian cuisine?

Have you ever noticed the spice palette and the variation across regions?

Where you able to correlate the patterns and cookie styles to the geography the food came for?

To answer all these burning questions lets start off with the way our Indian bodies are tuned.Curry,Roti and Rice are the staple diet in our main meals and Chai or Coffee is our beverage of choice. We love our sweets as much as the spicy food, and there are lot of varieties and preparation methods. Each adds a exquisite unique  non-overlapping flavour.Such rich taste is ingrained in our body since we grew our first set of teeth and had lentil soup followed by tasting every possible spice.

b22badaa8f67efd6f1d141bd8c7090a5

Most cuisines offer a maximum of 2 flavours and as we are tuned to a higher no of flavours we either find the food bland or distasteful. Most of our meals are wholesome, roti and rice provide both proteins and energy in form of carbohydrates and enough roughage. The lentils , curries are high in vitamins, anti-oxidants and made with spices that help the digestive system and help in wholesome development. The salads we take are rich in iron, potassium and minerals so we never fall deficient and need supplements. The lemon, tamarind and citrus fruits served after food provide us enough vitamin C to absorb calcium and keep our skin fresh and glowing. The magnesium from the banana keeps us happy even during low times and keeps the hormones under balance.Coconut  in both desiccated and milk form  and the curry leaves  added in a lot of chutney podis and poriyals provide hydration and great hair and texture. We Indians consume a lot of ghee and butter which makes their bones and muscles strong.

3c8a41aec7730aa2578f49e623a3bfa8

So in a nutshell one can say that Indian food is packed with a lot of taste, energy and love ; nothing can ever come so close to our hearts no matter where we go when it comes to the topic of food.Food is not just for eating its in our blood, its our culture : Perhaps it wouldn’t be wrong to say “Food is Religion”

International cusines also use a large collection of spices but they offer a very different taste than ours-example thyme adds a woody earthy flavour , jalapeños and paprika add the hotness where in India Bay leaf adds the earthy flavour and Guntur or Andhra chilli is the hotness factor. The link below shows a comparison of the variation of spices across countries.

https://www.exploratorium.edu/cooking/seasoning/map/spicemap.html

There is a lot more to talk about but for the sake of brevity I am going to conclude this one right now.

Enjoy the real Indian food taste order on ReadyBowl

No matter you eat Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Continental as Indian we like to eat Indian food because we are Indian’s
